Spirit Animals volume III

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Some may call these kind of things landfill fodder, others- the highest form of collectibles.. and still others- inspiration for a story about Spirit Animals. I would be the latter… and I would also be one of these animals every day if they made hats like this for actual people..

Whichever term you prefer, I strongly suggest spending a little time at TOY TOKYO where you will without a doubt find something for you or a loved one to enjoy and enjoy and enjoy…

Kubrick Be@rbricks come in a million iterations.. And they may even feel like a spirit animal to you.

Spirit animal inspiration for Summer…

Sunday, July 25th, 2010

I saw this downright enchanting deerskin halter-top at What Comes Around Goes Around.. And ALL I could think is how dope [to me] this would look as the shirt part of perfect a white Helmut Lang suit. I guess that’s kind of Spirit animal.. or at least an honest assessment of my contrasting Human dichotomy.

Love is a beautiful thing!

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

My dear friends -Susan & Geoff – have their wedding featured on the site Style-me-pretty today! Sabine’s beautiful photos are posted, in all their splendor, along with the story of how their Mexican wedding on the beach came to be. Susan talks a little about the custom jewelry I made for the special occasion….Seen pictured below with their kiss- awh!!

“…My jewelry was custom designed by my friend, Anna Sheffield.  She took my mother’s green peridot pendant and reworked it, along with two other peridot stones to make my drop earrings.  She also made my one-of-a-kind art deco pave diamond wedding ring.’

I had the luxury of designing the above mentioned 21 stone Deco Diamond Wedding band for Suz. Twenty one lucky stones in total, as that was the date of their union!

BB loves BEBE!

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

My dear friend Douglas little did such a Bang-up job on the Bebe windows at the new Soho store, I just had to shout it out the world. The glittered Carousel horses and Newspaper top-hats [made by the nimble hands of Emily Hughes] are truly genius!

The Stilwell farm is magical.. the streams, the heirloom flowers planted over a century ago by the Covingtons, the many more flowers planted by my Mom and Papa… the greenhouse. Its just unreal. This was one of the first sprigs of Asparagus to push through the mulch- which I ate!

Suffice it to say, The last works of Lee Alexander McQueen are some of the most wondrous, evocative, elegant and imaginative  works in his marvelous -though tragically short- career.

abk

I had the great fortune of being led on a little field trip to Alya’s shop, A.B.K., last fall on en route to the New Amsterdam market.. [And its taken me this long to get her beautfiul shop & story posted on the Blog. But hey, I am a working girl too!!]

The first amazing fact about Alya Kazakevich is the she is a fearless entrepreneur. Second- she is an absolute talent when it comes to the leather work she so lovingly crafts, with her very own hands, in her Atelier in the Lower East Side- Henry St. to be exact.

Alya and Lindsay taking shop among antique lasts, plants and beautiful hand-made shoes, bags and belts.. with the work table right there in the middle.

I want one of just about everything, and this is one of my favorites– indeed, its an actual, good-looking way to cart a laptop around. Or files, portfolios etc.. She’s a genius, that girl.
