A curated jewelry edit for the October babe
Attention October babes, it’s your time to shine. In celebration of your birth month, we did a little digging (literally) to learn more about the amorphous gemstone that is your birthstone, the Opal.
Just to clear up, amorphous means that opals don’t have a defined crystalline structure, meaning opals can be many different shapes and colors. Many gemologists believe that opals are formed by rain which gives them the ability to take different forms. They are formed when rainwater flows down crevasses in rocks, and the residue that is left behind hardens and creates your birthstone ☔! Fun fact: 95% of the world’s opals come from Australia.
Like most gems, we have to go back to ancient Roman times to give you a little extra history. The stone was known as opalus which means precious stone and dates back as early as 4000 BC. The “precious stone” is believed to give the wearer a symbol of hope and good fortune. A superstition that surrounds the opal states that if you are wearing an opal and it is not your birthstone you will have bad luck. So, October babes wear your opals with pride!
From amulet bracelets and necklaces to rosette studs, we’ve curated a jewelry edit that encompasses the power of this small, natural wonder.
For a perfect example of how unique the opal is, see our Opal Amulet Necklace. This necklace shows off one of the many different shapes that an opal can take. Wear it around your neck with pride October babes and allow the opal to give you good fortune for your birth month and beyond!
