A curated jewelry edit for the October babe
Bippity Boppity Boo!👻 Here to cast their magical spell is your birthstone October babes. In celebration of your birth month, we did a little digging (literally) to learn more about the precious gemstone that is your birthstone, Opal.
Just like you October babes, each opal is unique! They are determined by the colors that they show; the background color and their “play of color.” A little jewelry term there for you😉. Play of color is defined as a color that is multi-dimensional. Opals can be found in orange, yellow, red, green, blue, or purple. The different colors are created by the way the silica within the stone comes together. To be specific, the tiny molecules that make up every opal come together and allow different lights to diffract which in turn causes a change in color.
There are two types of opals: precious & common. Precious opals have a higher amount of play of color in them. Think fire opals and black opals which are very rare. Opals hold the same hardness as glass so wear them with extra care. However, opals are non-porous which means that they do not soak up the liquid that they come in contact with. That means that rubbing your opal with oils or soaking them in water to make them last longer is a myth!
From engagement rings to new fine jewelry, we’ve curated a jewelry edit that encompasses the power of these small, natural wonders.
